It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our former President and long term Committee Member, Lawrence “Larry” James Walters, age 78. He passed away on November 25, 2024 in Medina Ohio.

He had long a career in the insurance industry, 30 years with AON, including 20 years as the V.P. of Claims in the Cayman Islands, retiring in 2014. He participated in multiple marathons and triathlons worldwide.  He served as the President of Cayman Islands Triathlon Association for many years. Larry swam competitively and founded the Seven Mile Beach Swim Club encouraging others in health and camaraderie.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 11 years, Debra Ann Illes; children Dave (Carla) Walters, Charley (Robin) Walters, Michael Walters, Jane (Josh) Simon, Erica Haluazka, and Evan (Hannah) DiMatteo; grandchildren Jacob (Rowan), Abbey, Sarah, Jason, Amya, Eve, Alaina, Joe, Mady, Ellie, and Brooke; and great-grandson Isiah; and sister Gina Walters.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Larry’s name to the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association.
